Description Tim Bielawa 2024-11-14 20:18:05 UTC
Description of problem:
The version (5.2.1) in EPEL 9 is quite old [0]. It seems that when EPEL9 was branched in BZ2034311 it brought forward the version that was branched in BZ1756993.

May we please have version 5.3.0 in EPEL 9?

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Additional info:

Unfortunately for us, jemalloc-5.3.0 was released just 3 months after the EPEL 9 branch was made.

There has been a very productive discussion happening in BZ2210386 about what to do with this library in EPEL 8. Folks have reviewed the code and explained that it will not break existing use cases or cause memory allocations to fail.

EPEL 8 has effectively reached end of life. Would you consider making the bump to jemalloc-5.3.0 in EPEL 9 so we don't have to wait for EPEL10 years from now for this package to receive another update?

Many thanks!
