1. Please describe the problem:

With the latest (6.12.5) kernel, my Ideapad 1 14ALC7 functions normally after first boot. However, after suspend and resume, the monitor rapidly gets brighter for a few seconds, flickers briefly, and then turns off. Closing and reopening the lid (to invoke suspend/resume again) turns the monitor back on, but the process will repeat ad infinitum, and only stop after a cold boot. No errors appear in journalctl or dmesg. The prior kernel 6.12.4 is completely unaffected by this and works fine.


2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:

6.12.5-200.fc41.x86_64

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
   *first* appear?  Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :

First appeared with kernel-6.12.5-100.fc40, worked fine with any and all prior kernels.

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:

Boot a Lenovo Ideapad 1 14ALC7 with kernel 6.12.5, close the lid to suspend, reopen the lid and watch it bug out. This might work with other amdgpu powered laptops, but I'm not sure, as the Ideapad is the only one I have.


5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
   Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:

Can't currently test as I'm running Kinoite.

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:

No.

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log

Okay, after some rebasing, I can confirm that this bug is still present in the F41 testing kernel 6.12.6, but is FIXED in the current Rawhide kernel 6.13.0-0.rc3.20241218gitaef25be35d23.31.fc42.x86_64.

My sincere apologies, I pasted the wrong kernel version in my initial report. This is with Fedora 41; the correct version is *6.12.5-200.fc41.x86_64*. This and the F41 testing kernel 6.12.6 are affected. However, an interesting wrinkle is that the same kernel version on Fedora *40*, i.e. kernel-6.12.5-100.fc40, is *not* affected. I'm guessing this means the issue was either introduced in a downstream patch, or isn't happening (entirely) in the kernel.

I can confirm the same problem on Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 14ABR8 on F41 since upgrade to kernel 6.12.5. Kernel 6.12.4 works fine.

Upon further investigation, on my E14 G3 AMD, it appears this only happens when my KDE power profile on the battery widget is set on Balanced or Power Saver. When Performance is selected resume from sleep works as expected, but the bug returns immediately after changing the power profile back to Balanced or Power Saver. I'm not sure exactly what options are changed by this option but I suspect it is activating some sort of power saving option in amdgpu that is broken on this build of the kernel.

Can also confirm this behavior on both kernel-6.12.5-200.fc41.x86_64 and kernel-6.12.6-200.fc41.x86_64.

This is for a Lenovo Yoga 6 with AMD cpu/igpu laptop. Here's the output from running 'inxi -cmMGA' while booted from kernel-6.12.4, which doesn't exhibit the behavior:

I'm ducking in to report that the kernel 6.12.7 that's available in the updates-testing repo does not fix this issue for me. This is with the thought that this kernel may have contained the patch I've seen mentioned in this thread.

I did the install using command line, "sudo dnf upgrade --enablerepo=updates-testing --refresh --advisory=FEDORA-2024-0b5b0e0527", then turned on "Power Saver" power mode via the Quick Menu and rebooted.

I started a handful of processes and suspended manually, and, afterwards, closing the lid on my laptop. Once I returned from suspend, I encountered identical behavior to that of 6.12.5 and 6.12.6: Blinking to a screen off mode.

This is for a Lenovo Yoga 6 laptop with CPU/iGPU combo: AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U/AMD Radeon Vega Series.

The glitching seems less, but it still there (using internal gfx, did not try discrete gfx).
