I may be able to avoid this dependency for python-cramjam; see https://github.com/cramjam/libcramjam/pull/22. I will probably know for certain within the next few days.

The latest rust-libcramjam-0.7.0 no longer requires blosc2 (because I have patched out features requiring https://crates.io/crates/blosc2-rs or https://crates.io/crates/isal-rs, and they are no longer among the default features). The next release of python-cramjam will use rust-libcramjam-0.7.0, and shouldn’t require these features either. These Rust bindings have soundness issues and need some significant work before they are production-ready, so this is welcome, and I’m trying to get to the point where I can retire them from Rawhide.

Therefore, I don’t think I will need blosc2 in EPEL10 after all, so you may consider *my* request rescinded. It’s likely someone will still want it for python-blosc2, python-imagecodecs, or python-tables, so it’s up to you whether you want to close this issue or keep it open, and whether you want to branch and build blosc2 or wait for another requestor to show up.

I guess people will want python-tables. So let's keep it open for now.
