Doc Text:
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's SUNRPC (Sun Remote Procedure Call) subsystem. A local user can cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by reading RPC cache entries, triggering a use-after-free condition where memory is accessed after being marked for release. This issue occurs because the cache display mechanism fails to ensure an entry is active before incrementing its reference count, leading to an unexpected system crash or potential memory leak.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2024-12-27 14:05:47 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

SUNRPC: make sure cache entry active before cache_show

The function `c_show` was called with protection from RCU. This only
ensures that `cp` will not be freed. Therefore, the reference count for
`cp` can drop to zero, which will trigger a refcount use-after-free
warning when `cache_get` is called. To resolve this issue, use
`cache_get_rcu` to ensure that `cp` remains active.
