Description mszabo-oss 2025-01-09 21:58:34 UTC
Description of problem:

The DWARF producer component of libdwarf (libdwarfp) is a separate library since 0.1.1 of libdwarf, but the current Fedora packages do not build and ship it. As such, libdwarfp is not available on Fedora and derivatives.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 0.1.1 onwards

How reproducible: Consistent

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install libdwarf via DNF

Actual results:
Observe that the libdwarfp.so library isn't installed.

Expected results:
libdwarfp.so should have been installed.

Additional info:
It should be a matter of setting the "dwarfgen" option for the meson build so that it builds both the reader and the producer.

Debian and derivatives do not suffer from this issue because they still ship with an old libdwarf where the two components were not yet separate.
