Description Trung Lê 2025-02-11 14:11:22 UTC
Version 1.5.0 has just been released

See https://github.com/xiph/flac/releases/tag/1.5.0 for changelog

It would be awesome if the maintainer could bump the package to latest version before the release of fedora 42

Reproducible: Always

Comment 2 Miroslav Lichvar 2025-02-11 15:35:20 UTC
There is a libFLAC soname change, so the update will not be that easy. We will need a proven packager to rebuild packages in a side tag.

Comment 3 Dominik 'Rathann' Mierzejewski 2025-02-12 10:47:20 UTC
The Multimedia SIG has proven packagers and can help with rebuilds. I suggest doing an impact check in COPR and, if everything builds fine, update and build flac in a side-tag and let us know. We'll assist.

Comment 4 Miroslav Lichvar 2025-02-13 13:09:15 UTC
Ok, thanks. I tried building all packages that depend on flac-libs in a local mock, except chromium which would take too long. The following packages failed: easytag, musescore, scummvm, SFML, timidity++.

easytag, scummvm, timidity++ already failed in the F42 mass rebuild. SFML fails due to wrong build dependency (openal-soft-devel no longer provides openal-devel). musescore fails in check-rpaths, that doesn't seem to be related to flac.

So to me it looks like it's good to go. I pushed the flac update and built it in f43-build-side-105652. If you think it's ok to do this also in F42, please feel free to merge flac rawhide in f42 and build it in a new side tag.

Here is the full list of packages (libsndfile and audiofile need to be built first as other packages depend on them):

libsndfile
audiofile

SDL_sound
SFML
allegro5
aqualung
ardour6
ardour7
ardour8
audacious-plugins
audacity
audiocd-kio
bigloo
butt
chromium
easytag
flac123
getdata
gstreamer1-plugins-good
gtkpod
k3b
kid3
kwave
libextractor
libfishsound
libopenmpt
mame
mednafen
minidlna
mkvtoolnix
mp3fs
musescore
ocp
opus-tools
qmmp
retroarch
scummvm
scummvm-tools
sox
squeezelite
timidity++
traverso
vavoom
vlc
vlfrx-tools
vorbis-tools
xine-lib
xmms2

Is there a someplace where one could track the progress?

Does the offer from the multimedia SIG still stand? If you no longer have the capacity to do the rebuild, I can ask for help on the fedora devel list.

Comment 8 Miroslav Lichvar 2025-05-28 06:34:31 UTC
The packages have been rebuilt and submitted here: https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2025-f797ec90df

Sorry for not responding earlier, Miroslav. I was too busy. I'm glad you
found assistance with the rebuilds.
