Xorg.0.log
Same problem here, with F7. I have this bug since FC6 btw. This is on a PPC. This is a duplicate of Bug 203282 where also a workaround is given, see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=203282#c1 . Created attachment 246771 [details]
.drirc by krh from the mentioned message
Reporter, does using the attached file as ~/.drirc (after restarting X, of
course) make the screen corruption dissapear?
Adding the ~/.drirc after booting with a F8RC3 LiveCD and restarting the X via ctrl-alt-backspace did not correct the problem. The same corruption occurs still occurs. Created attachment 247121 [details]
Xorg.0.log from F8RC3 LiveCD after adding .drirc
I am attaching the Xorg.0.log file that exists after:
1) booting into the F8RC3 LiveCD
2) adding the suggested .drirc into ~fedora
3) restarting X using ctrl-alt-backspace
4) attempting to enable desktop effects
5) restarting X using init3 + init 5 in a terminal as root
6) trying to re-enable the desktop effects
7) restarting X with ctrl-alt-backspace.
(In reply to comment #8) You need to create /etc/drirc instead of $HOME/.drirc. In my case, only the global copy allowed to get rid of the clipping effect. Reporter, sorry for confusing instructions, but could you let us know whether the advice in comment 10 helped? I can confirm that putting the file in /etc/drirc fixes this issue. Thanks. Based on the date this bug was created, it appears to have been reported against rawhide during the development of a Fedora release that is no longer maintained. In order to refocus our efforts as a project we are flagging all of the open bugs for releases which are no longer maintained. If this bug remains in NEEDINFO thirty (30) days from now, we will automatically close it. If you can reproduce this bug in a maintained Fedora version (7, 8, or rawhide), please change this bug to the respective version and change the status to ASSIGNED. (If you're unable to change the bug's version or status, add a comment to the bug and someone will change it for you.) Thanks for your help, and we apologize again that we haven't handled these issues to this point. The process we're following is outlined here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/F9CleanUp We will be following the process here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping to ensure this doesn't happen again. This bug has been in NEEDINFO for more than 30 days since feedback was first requested. As a result we are closing it. If you can reproduce this bug in the future against a maintained Fedora version please feel free to reopen it against that version. The process we're following is outlined here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/F9CleanUp Fixed for current F9 w/updates including compiz-0.7.6-2.fc9 as verified for a Radeon R100 QD [Radeon 7200] connected to an HP A4576A 21" CRT. The whole setup is configured for 1400x1050@24bpp. Desktop effects work correctly across the entire screen. |
