The package lbzip2 is currently maintained in Fedora and widely used for high-performance compression. We have built and tested it successfully for EPEL9 (AlmaLinux 9), and confirmed compatibility with RHEL-based environments. Please consider branching it to epel9. Thank you for your attentio Spec and SRPM are available at: https://github.com/redadmin-k/lbzip2-almalinux9-rpm This is a new submission for lbzip2, a parallel implementation of bzip2 compression. The package was built for AlmaLinux 9 and tested successfully in EL9 environments. It is based on Fedora packaging but modified to comply with EPEL guidelines. This submission aims to provide a high-performance bzip2 alternative for EPEL9 systems. Maintainer: Akiyoshi Kurita (redadmin-k) [fedora-review-service-build] There are no known active CVEs related to lbzip2 as of June 2025. The software is designed for local file compression and does not involve any networking or privilege escalation. It has been tested and used in production in AlmaLinux 9 environments. I am willing to maintain this package within EPEL if accepted. > lbzip2 is not currently available in EPEL9. It's been available in EPEL 9 for three years now. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 2081894 *** |
