I'm on Fedora rawhide and after a recent system update today, I'm no longer able to see "Fixed" as a font option in gnome-terminal. Having "Fixed" in my alacritty config doesn't work either.

I used to have `ucs-miscfixed-opentype-fonts` installed earlier. I tried with ucs-miscfixed-fonts too, but didn't work either.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Be on an updated rawhide
2. Install ucs-miscfixed-fonts (or opentype-fonts)
3. Choose "Fixed" as the font type.

(I tried ucs-miscfixed-opentype-fonts on F42 gnome-terminal - wow is that ugly;)

(ptyxis doesn't recognize Fixed, though gnome-console does but doesn't seem to actually use it for me.)

Actually I tested on Rawhide Live, but probably slightly older than what Lokesh has.

Reproduced with fontconfig-2.17.0-1.fc43 I am afraid.

You can try downgrading fontconfig and see if it makes a different, it worked for me there.

Well, because 2.17.0 enabled /etc/fonts/conf.d/70-no-bitmaps-except-emoji.conf by default. I'll revert this change in rawhide since such drastic change shouldn't be happened without Change proposal.

BTW Fedora datacenter move is ongoing. The updated package can't be delivered soon. You can remove the above file manually for a workaround.

FEDORA-2025-d26a06f9ec (fontconfig-2.17.0-2.fc43) has been pushed to the Fedora 43 stable repository.

The only beautiful terminal font on a 4k screen is Fixed size 9 :) 
I wish I could set it easily on Brave too.

It's the same beauty on both :)

Genuinely curious/interested...
At least to me using bitmap on a 4k seems naively counterintuitive (:

Perhaps you could post a screenshot or something to explain more?
