The ususal question applies here: does this machine have the latest BIOS installed? yeah, sorry should have included that info. It did a month or so ago. Ill check again. well there was an update but after installation still have the problem. What was the version of the previous kernel installed? Did it output these messages? I just booted the previous kernel and it was 2.6.20-1.2933.fc6 but it has the error, I only keep two versions but I think it started appearing since the update to 2.6.20 - I dont think the problem existed on the last 2.6.19 kernel. It started appearing on Saturday after I did an update. I run ossec and it picked up the error. Im a tad puzzled - the yum log prior to the error was ... I normally dont have the battery in, it considerably extends the battery life if you only have the battery when it is neccessary. I was travelling on Saturday. Here is the portion of the log ... Thanks Does this cause any visible problems other than the messages? Not that Ive noticed, I only noticed it because ossec alerted me to it. (This is a mass-update to all current FC6 kernel bugs in NEW state) Hello, I'm reviewing this bug list as part of the kernel bug triage project, an attempt to isolate current bugs in the Fedora kernel. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/KernelBugTriage I am CC'ing myself to this bug, however this version of Fedora is no longer maintained. Please attempt to reproduce this bug with a current version of Fedora (presently Fedora 8). If the bug no longer exists, please close the bug or I'll do so in a few days if there is no further information lodged. Thanks for using Fedora! It still exists. It will take me a few days to upgrade to FC8. Having problems upgrading to 8 ... Transaction Check Error: package kernel-2.6.23.12-52.fc7.i686 (which is newer than kernel-2.6.23.9-85.fc8.i686) is already installed but the problem has not occurred on the FC7 kernel. Yeah, you'd have to upgrade via anaconda and then update again, since this is a recently updated F7 system (that's theoretical, I've never actually tried it though I might tonight). At any rate, I'm happy to here that the problem doesn't exist any longer, and will go ahead and close this out as CURRENTRELEASE. I did yum remove kernel-2.6.23.9-85.fc8.i686 yum install kernel yum upgrade Thanks |
