Description of problem: Installing oddjob tries to HUP a process called dbus-daemon and this is incorrect and unnecessary and might result in an error message. Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): oddjob-0.34.7-15.fc42.x86_64 How reproducible: reliable Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Fedora server in text mode 2. dnf install oddjob Actual results: >>> Running %post scriptlet: oddjob-0:0.34.7-15.fc42.x86_64 >>> Finished %post scriptlet: oddjob-0:0.34.7-15.fc42.x86_64 >>> Scriptlet output: >>> dbus-daemon: no process found Expected results: No error message Additional info: This happens because the script refers to the process "dbus-daemon"; but dbus-broker and not dbus-daemon is the default dbus server on Fedora. In fact it's not necessary to HUP the daemon at all because it auto-loads changed files. Note that if GDM is running then it will have a dbus-daemon process and so that will be (needlessly) told to reload and there is no error message in that case. Moreover, the line in the script that does this: killall -HUP dbus-daemon 2>&1 > /dev/null has the redirects in the wrong order so it doesn't suppress error output.
