This is a tracking bug for Change: Use of swappable -bin packages for managing NodeJS symlinks

We aim to move away from manual management of /usr/bin/node, /usr/bin/npm, and similar symlinks to leveraging swappable nodejsXX-bin, nodejsXX-npm-bin packages.

Hi aradchen, how goes this change for F44? The testable deadline is today, February 03, 2026, and changes need to be in good shape at this point https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/program_management/changes_policy/#_change_process_milestones

Please let me know if you need to defer this to F45, otherwise if you're good to go for the change to be ready to meet the testable requirements, please update the status of the tracker bug to MODIFIED.

Hello Allison, taking the bug on myself, since I'm working on that nowadays.

The update was merged in rawhide on 2026-01-26, and the bug is in MODIFIED for about a week longer. The change is now testable, and I'm alerady working on addressing some issues that came out of it.

Let me know if there is anything else to be done.
