Description Laurențiu Nicola 2025-09-17 06:21:32 UTC
It's required for the new `gdal raster calc` functionality. From the release notes:

* [muparser](https://github.com/beltoforion/muparser) is *strongly*
recommended to be added as a build and runtime dependency, to provide
nominal support for C++ VRT expressions.
* [exprtk](https://github.com/ArashPartow/exprtk) may be added as a
build dependency (this is a header-only library) to provide support for
advanced C++ VRT expressions. Note that it causes an increase in libgdal
size of about 8 MB. exprtk support is recommended to be an addition to
muparser support, not as a replacement.

exprtk is not packaged, but I guess that's fine for now.

Reproduction:

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
$ gdal raster calc -i B8=T32UNE_20250321T102731_B08_10m.jp2 -o b8.tif --calc B8

Actual Results:
ERROR 5: Dialect 'muparser' is not supported by this GDAL build. A GDAL build with muparser is needed.

Expected Results:
No error

Additional Information:
I didn't test, but adding BuildRequires: muParser-devel is probably enough to have it picked up by CMake.

Comment 3 Laurențiu Nicola 2025-09-20 11:31:47 UTC
Was this really added in gdal-3.11.4-1.fc43? It's still not working there and https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/gdal/c/b1f662fa46ba37d408eb460ba2992f32044f334b?branch=f43 makes it look like it's been added only in -2, which I can't install.
