Description Ulrich Drepper 2007-05-15 15:19:14 UTC
Description of problem:
The following little file causes gs to terminate with an error:

__i686_get_pc_thunk_cx = __i686.get_pc_thunk.cx

.section __i686_get_pc_thunk_cx
        ret

The problem is with the .section line. The use of a macro deeply disturbs gas.
The above use is very useful, though, and should be enabled.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
binutils-2.17.50.0.12-4.x86_64

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.gcc -c inputfile.S
2.
3.

Actual results:
inputfile.S: Assembler messages:
inputfile.S:4: Internal error, aborting at ../../gas/symbols.c line 2046 in
S_SET_SEGMENT
Please report this bug.

Expected results:
Nice .o file with section "__i686.get_pc_thunk.cx".

Based on the date this bug was created, it appears to have been reported
against rawhide during the development of a Fedora release that is no
longer maintained. In order to refocus our efforts as a project we are

maintained. If this bug remains in NEEDINFO thirty (30) days from now,
we will automatically close it.

If you can reproduce this bug in a maintained Fedora version (7, 8, or
rawhide), please change this bug to the respective version and change
the status to ASSIGNED. (If you're unable to change the bug's version

these issues to this point.
