I get this too, on a T40 with ipw2100. I am thinking the big error is this : May 31 16:57:51 nitrogen wpa_supplicant[8208]: Association request to the driver failed This was working with FC6 fine. Here are some logs : May 31 16:57:43 nitrogen NetworkManager: <info> User Switch: /org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/Devices/eth1 / NETWORK May 31 16:57:43 nitrogen NetworkManager: <info> Deactivating device eth1. Jun 2 00:01:58 localhost kernel: ipw2100: exit - failed to send CARD_DISABLE command compiling and installing ipw2100.ko from ipw2100-1.2.2.tgz fixed the problems. I've had the exact same problem connecting to my WPA-Personal network on a IBM ThinkPad T41 using the ipw2100 wireless adapter. The simple fix for me was to just re-enable ipv6 on the interface. As soon as I did this, it immediately worked on the next connection using NetworkManager. I didn't have this problem in FC6 using the same 1.3 firmware, must be a bug in the F7 driver. I haven't tried this fix on the live cd but it had the same problem by default. Hope this helps, Stoo Created attachment 156180 [details]
/var/log/messages entry for ipw2100 failure to connect to wpa secured network
Sorry about the previous post, I jumped the gun in my excitement for thinking I
fixed the problem so easily.
What happened is after making the change to ipv6, the gnome keyring asked me to
create a password, something I was never able to get to previously. Appearently
it just fell back to some neighbor's open wireless network.
So still having the same issue, here's my log.
Thanks Herward! Compiling and installing the ipw2100.ko fixed it for me as well. Odd...perhaps Intel has neglected to send a patch upstream? I'll check into it. you may also check the http://ieee80211.sourceforge.net/ header files and please include them in kernel-devel Why would I do that? Is this still a problem w/ current F7 kernels? Seems to be working with the .22 kernel updates. I think we can mark this as fixed? |
