Description Carl George 🤠 2026-01-22 07:01:43 UTC
Description of problem:
reStream from EPEL 8 has one or more unresolved dependencies, causing it to be uninstallable.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
reStream-1.3.1-1.el8

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. dnf install reStream

Actual results:
Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - nothing provides (ffmpeg-free >= 4.0.0 or ffmpeg >= 4.0.0) needed by reStream-1.3.1-1.el8.noarch from epel

Expected results:
successful installation

Additional info:
This also affects the most recent update in epel-testing (reStream-1.4.0-1.el8). There's a request to add ffmpeg to EPEL 8 in bug 2280915, but it doesn't seem to have gotten any traction since it was opened in 2024. At this point the best path forward is probably to just retire the epel8 branch.

Agreed, I don't think there's much point in keeping it alive for EPEL8.

Let me give retiring it a go.
