Description of problem:
Yum has worked fine for me when setting httpProxy= to our squid proxy, but when I point it at an apache proxy (httpd-2.0.52-32.ent on RHEL4) it fails.  

[root@brick rhn]# cat /etc/redhat-release

[root@brick rhn]# yum -d 10 check-update

This request was evaluated by Red Hat Product Management for inclusion in a Red
Hat Enterprise Linux maintenance release.  Product Management has requested
further review of this request by Red Hat Engineering, for potential
inclusion in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux Update release for currently deployed
products.  This request is not yet committed for inclusion in an Update
release.
