A flaw was found in Cacti's file upload functionality. When an attacker uploads a file with an invalid format, the application improperly sanitizes the filename before reflecting it in an error message. This allows an attacker to inject arbitrary HTML elements into the rendered page, potentially leading to client-side script execution.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-01-29 18:01:36 UTC
A HTML injection vulnerability exists in the file upload functionality of Cacti <= 1.2.29. When a file with an invalid format is uploaded, the application reflects the submitted filename back into an error popup without proper sanitization. As a result, attackers can inject arbitrary HTML elements (e.g., <h1>, <b>, <svg>) into the rendered page.
