Description Rob Curtis 2026-02-04 09:13:24 UTC
When creating a virtual machine with incus, the VM creates fine but does not start. Examining the logs, shows a unknown audio driver `spice`. I have tried with fedora, debian and ubuntu images and the issue occurred with all of them.

Installing the `qemu-audio-spice` package eliminates the problem.

Other qemu packages are listed as recommends of the incus-agent subpackage and I believe that the qemu-audio-spice package should be added to the list of recommends of incus agent so that VM creation works out-of-the box.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install incus, letting dnf manage dependencies
    `sudo dnf install incus`

2. Create a virtual machine
    `incus launch --vm images:debian/12 debian-vm`
Actual Results:
`Error: Failed instance creation: Failed to run: forklimits ....`

Expected Results:
No output signalling success, and VM should be running in background.

Additional Information:
Running the command `incus info --show-log debian-vm` produces the following ourput showing that the problem is with

Name: debian-vm
Description:
Status: STOPPED
Type: virtual-machine
Architecture: x86_64

I have created a pull request at https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/incus/pull-request/10 with the single line change to add the recommendation in incus.spec
