Description Tristan Theroux 2026-02-10 18:51:09 UTC
Description of problem

When running Lutris 0.5.19 on an EPEL 10 system, the installer cannot locate any Wine versions. The installation attempts to create a Wine prefix at /home/USERNAME/Games/battlenet, but the prefix never becomes valid (no user.reg is generated). This results in a cascade of errors:

“No versions of Wine are installed.”
“Invalid Wine prefix path … make sure to create the prefix before saving to a registry”
    Missing 32‑bit libraries (libGL.so.1, libvulkan.so.1, libgnutls.so.30) reported at startup.

The issue persists despite Lutris reporting that the UI launches correctly.
Version‑Release number of selected component (if applicable)
Component	Version / Release
Lutris	0.5.19 (released 2026‑01‑30)
Wine (expected)	wine‑ge‑8‑26‑x86_64 (binary path shown, but not installed)
OS / Repo	EPEL 10 (Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10)
How reproducible

Always reproducible on a clean EPEL 10 installation where no Wine packages are present.
Steps to Reproduce

Install Lutris 0.5.19 from the test build for EPEL 10.
Launch Lutris and attempt to install the Battle.net script (or any Wine‑based game).
Lutris tries to create a Wine prefix at /home/USERNAME/Games/battlenet.
The process aborts with “No versions of Wine are installed” and subsequent “Invalid Wine prefix” errors.

Actual results

Lutris logs show repeated UnavailableRunnerError: No versions of Wine are installed.
Wine prefix creation hangs (“Wine prefix creation is taking longer than expected…”) and finally fails with No user.reg found after prefix creation.
Registry operations raise OSError: Invalid Wine prefix path ….
    Startup also reports missing 32‑bit libraries (i386 libGL.so.1, i386 libvulkan.so.1, i386 libgnutls.so.30).

Expected results

Lutris should detect an available Wine runner (or automatically install one from the repository).
A valid Wine prefix (user.reg present) should be created under the specified directory.
Installation of Battle.net (or any other Wine‑based title) proceeds without prefix‑related errors.
Required 32‑bit runtime libraries are either bundled or installed automatically.

Additional info

Bug already filed in Red Hat Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2435456
The log shows numerous “Non existent path” warnings for Lutris runtimes (umu-games, winetricks, battleye_runtime, etc.), indicating missing runtime packages in the EPEL 10 repository.
The missing 32‑bit libraries (i386 libGL.so.1, i386 libvulkan.so.1, i386 libgnutls.so.30) suggest that the EPEL 10 repo does not provide the necessary i386 compatibility packages for Wine.

Providing Wine (and its 32‑bit dependencies) in the EPEL 10 repositories would resolve the immediate blocker and allow Lutris to function as intended.

The battle.net installer was simply the easy option to test and first that came to mind that is complicated to install.
