Thanks for pointing me to the new project location. I'll see about changing over to it as soon as I can but I'm going to be at a work conference all this week. Hello ! Is there a chance to solve this issue: is there a hope to update JS8Call for Fedora 43 or not ? Thank you. I'm trying to update it since the old version does not build with hamlib but for some reason while the "cmake build" process works fine the "cmake install" process does nothing and I haven't had time to investiagte. I had time to investigate. The new upstream does not even try to install the binary. I fail to see how this is an improvement. Hello. I'm not programmer & I do not know about these technical details .... It is very disappointing ! Did you tried to contact current developer(s) about this ? By the way, I noticed that RedHat BugZilla do not send me email notification when you replay in this thread ! Why ? Now, I do not know about your replay unless when I visit this thread ! I did not changed any thing in my setting ! Hello again ! I opened a thread about this in the repository of JS8Call-improved & they replay me & ask me to post their replay here: See the following link: https://github.com/JS8Call-improved/JS8Call-improved/issues/250 Bellow I will copy/past the replay from above link: [JS8Call 2.4.0 and later require Qt 6.9.3. All versions of JS8Call require a specific version of Hamlib, the 2.5.x series require Hamlib 4.6.5, current JS8Call master requires Hamlib 4.7.0. Since most linux distributions do not provide these libraries, distribution on linux for the project is AppImage only, which bundles the required libraries with the binary. We do provide build scripts for both Debian-based and Redhat/Fedora-based linux systems that are semi-automated and will pull the proper libraries from our repo for a build. And will subsequently install JS8Call for the local user. Linux package maintainers are welcome to try to figure out how to package JS8Call 2.5 and later for their distribution, this has already been done by some like Arch. But otherwise, CPack is deprecated in the JS8Call project and no longer used. The provided build scripts COULD be modified to install JS8Call system-wide. But it MUST be packaged with the proper libraries that the build scripts will fetch during the build. The library package that will be fetched is a unified js8lib library package, which is required alongside the Qt6.9.3 package.] Wish that will help you ! If NOT or if you have no enough time to deal with this, then kindly, just inform me so that I will return back to AppImage package ! 73 |
