Description xspielinbox+redhat 2026-02-24 23:52:48 UTC
The man page ssh.1 lists some arguments for the -o option multiple times instead of only once.

This issue does not occur with the upstream documentation.

The patch 00043-openssh-8.7p1-ssh-manpage.patch does not provide any value and only introduces these duplication errors in the man page.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the man page with man ssh

Actual Results:
The possible arguments arguments in a weird order, sometimes duplicated.

Expected Results:
The possible arguments appear in a consistent order and only once each.

Additional Information:
With the code visible at https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/openssh/blob/rawhide/f/0039-openssh-8.7p1-ssh-manpage.patch this error should also apply for Rawhide.

I would suggest to simply drop this patch as all these options are already documented upstream.

Sorry for the late reopen, but it is not actually fixed for Fedora Linux 44.

The mentioned update does not fix the error on that release.

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/openssh/blob/f44/f/0039-openssh-8.7p1-ssh-manpage.patch is still committed and introduces the same error.

Rawhide was fixed in https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/openssh/c/9ad089f487239e83b0a8ef711730cf188e582276?branch=rawhide

Thank you!

FEDORA-2026-a80275b42d fixes this now for Fedora 44 as well!

But FEDORA-2026-95b955a09b does not actually fix this bug, as this bug is already fixed on Fedora 43.
