Description 5632815 2026-02-25 18:54:44 UTC
The default Alacritty SVG icon uses clipping paths to render the glare effect on the logo. The Qt/KDE SVG renderer (qtsvg) drops these clipping masks, causing the glare to render as a solid, opaque white upside-down triangle on Fedora KDE Plasma.

This is a known upstream issue. To solve this, the Alacritty team officially provides a compat icon (extra/logo/compat/alacritty-term.svg) specifically designed for environments with limited SVG renderers like KDE. Other distributions (like Arch Linux and Gentoo) patch their packages to use this compatibility icon by default.

Currently, the Fedora package ships the default broken icon.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install alacritty on a Fedora KDE Plasma system (e.g., Fedora 43 KDE Spin).
2. Open the application launcher or pin Alacritty to the task manager.
3. Observe the icon.
Actual Results:
The Alacritty logo displays a large, opaque white triangle covering the top half of the 'A'.

Expected Results:
The logo should render correctly without visual artifacts.
