This bug has been fixed in version 1.21.1 - raising this for a Freeze Exception

Description of problem:
Whilst participating in the Fedora Gnome 50 test week - I noticed that the background apps section of the quick settings menu is no longer present. The apps that should be there (Easyeffects & deja-dup) are still running in the background so it's not because they are not running.

When I rebase back to Fedora Silverblue 43 & GNOME 49 - the background apps section does appear as expected.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable): 1.21.0

Always


Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install/Upgrade to GNOME 50
2. Install an app that runs in the background like EasyEffects
3. Monitor

Actual results: The background apps section remains hidden.


Expected results: Show the background apps section.

Proposed as a Freeze Exception for 44-final by Fedora user boniboyblue using the blocker tracking app because:

 The quick setting prompt that shows which background applications are running within a GNOME environment is bugged in 1.21.0 - this is fixed in 1.21.1.

I believe the background apps to be an important function within Gnome DE so it would be good to have it fixed in the final release.

The 1.21.1 version of xdg-desktop-portal also has security fixes including a fix for the following CVE:

It would be great to have it in Final F44 out-of-box.

This is accepted as another annoying bug fixed by the xdg-desktop-portal update. We didn't want to spend too much time debating it as we're pulling in that update for the previously-discussed bug anyway.
