Description Flags
``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt`` output none

Description bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-18 11:31:37 UTC
1. Please describe the problem:
Kernel 6.19 distros have slow wifi connection on laptops with RTL8852BE unless power_save is turned off with "sudo iw dev wlp8s0 set power_save off".
Older kernls work fine with power_save on.
2. What is the Version-Release number of the kernel:
(6.19.2), (6.19.12)

3. Did it work previously in Fedora? If so, what kernel version did the issue
*first* appear? Old kernels are available for download at
   https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=8 :
The latest kernel i have tried is 6.17 on another distro which does not have this issue so bug appeared in 6.19 or maybe 6.18?

4. Can you reproduce this issue? If so, please provide the steps to reproduce
   the issue below:
1- Install fedora
2- Connect to Wifi
3- Wifi is slow

5. Does this problem occur with the latest Rawhide kernel? To install the
Rawhide kernel, run ``sudo dnf install fedora-repos-rawhide`` followed by
   ``sudo dnf update --enablerepo=rawhide kernel``:
Yes it is present in latest rawhide kernel

6. Are you running any modules that not shipped with directly Fedora's kernel?:
No it is a vanilla fedora installation

7. Please attach the kernel logs. You can get the complete kernel log
   for a boot with ``journalctl --no-hostname -k > dmesg.txt``. If the
issue occurred on a previous boot, use the journalctl ``-b`` flag.

Reproducible: Always

Comment 2 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2026-04-18 11:43:51 UTC
Proposed as a Blocker for 44-final by Fedora user loquser using the blocker tracking app because:

Getting a wifi speed of 5mbs instead of 50mbs is a pretty bad experience to me which isn't proper for a final release especially that if the devs can't figure out how to fix the drivers they can just disable power_save.

Comment 3 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-18 12:18:27 UTC
Using a vpn fixes the issue too probably by keeping the NIC awake.

Comment 4 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-19 08:52:48 UTC
On kernel 6.12.82 (lts) the bug is not present with power_save on.

Comment 5 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-19 08:54:22 UTC
The bug appeared on kernel 6.19.x and the oldest one I tried was 6.19.2 which had the bug.

No this is not correct I just tried 6.18.23 lts and the bug is there i will proceed to do a kernel regression bisect and inform you which kernel caused the regression.

Comment 7 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-19 13:48:29 UTC
Following official kernel bisection guide and im getting tons of errors. I give up on bisection and no old kernels are available in repo so i will leave finding to regressions to any other contributer. The bug appeared after 6.12lts is all I know.

Comment 8 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-19 14:46:48 UTC
Power_save on is higher speed but not stable

Comment 9 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-19 14:47:01 UTC
I meant off

Comment 10 bugzilla.equinox584@aleeas.com 2026-04-19 14:56:03 UTC
Nevermind instability is because of my router the power_save off workaround works perfectly

AGREED RejectedFinalBlocker

Discussed at the 2026-04-20 (blocker / freeze exception) review meeting:

This is rejected as a non-fatal (but annoying) issue on a single wifi chip is clearly below the threshold. If we blocked Fedora releases on annoying issues on single wifi chips, we'd never release anything. FE status left open as votes are split for now.
