Description Brad 2007-06-29 17:51:42 UTC
Description of problem:K3b freezing on verify disk (sometimes) DVD+RW

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
1.0.1-1.fc7.2@i386

How reproducible:Burn DVD+RW(all I use) with verify on. Roughly 1/3 freeze
during startup of verify. Disks appear to be burned functional.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:
K3b froze.

Expected results:Verified disk success

Additional info: Same hardware worked fine on FC5

Comment 1 Harald Hoyer 2007-07-02 10:21:36 UTC
did you turn off automounting in KDE/Gnome?

Comment 2 Brad 2007-07-02 16:10:52 UTC
Yes, automount for media is shut off. This was necessary in FC5 and was assumed
to be necessary in F7.

Comment 3 Marc 2007-12-11 08:54:06 UTC
k3b-1.0.4-3.fc8 also freezes when going into verify mode. DVD+RW burns okay
(data is also okay on the disk), but when CD drawer opens ready to close again
to verify the data, the drawer stays open, unlike the previous package (k3b-
1.0.3-3.fc8). k3b-1.0.3-3.fc8 worked fine in verify mode before the update was
applied, and worked fine again when reinstalled as the --oldpackage.

The k3b-1.0.4-3.fc8 test package produced the same verify freeze problem.

Comment 4 Bug Zapper 2008-05-14 13:19:55 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 7 is nearing the end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 7. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '7'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 7's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 7 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. If possible, it is recommended that you try the newest available Fedora distribution to see if your bug still exists.

Please read the Release Notes for the newest Fedora distribution to make sure it will meet your needs:
http://docs.fedoraproject.org/release-notes/

The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 5 Brad 2008-10-28 17:38:37 UTC
Anybody home?

Comment 6 Harald Hoyer 2008-10-28 17:52:39 UTC
is only k3b freezing? or the whole thing?

please open a terminal and provide the output of:

$ ps ax

Comment 7 Brad 2008-10-28 18:18:14 UTC
Just k3b just once in a while.

Comment 8 Harald Hoyer 2008-10-28 18:43:37 UTC
sorry, I meant "ps ax" at the time k3b hangs...

hddtemp does not monitor the dvd writer, isn't it?

Comment 9 Brad 2008-10-28 18:52:12 UTC
It may be a while before I can catch it when it hangs.

No, hddtemp is not monitoring the DVD burner. The case is well ventilated.

Comment 11 Bug Zapper 2008-11-26 07:23:18 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 8 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 8. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '8'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 8's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 8 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 12 Bug Zapper 2009-01-09 07:09:24 UTC
Fedora 8 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-01-07. Fedora 8 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
