A flaw was found in JS8Call and JS8Call-improved. A remote attacker can exploit a stack-based buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted radio transmission containing "@APRSIS GRID" followed by an excessively long Maidenhead locator. This vulnerability, occurring in the `grid2deg` function, could lead to arbitrary code execution or a denial of service (DoS) on the affected system.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-05-01 07:01:14 UTC
JS8Call through 2.3.1 and JS8Call-improved before 3.0 have a stack-based buffer overflow via a radio transmission of @APRSIS GRID followed by a long Maidenhead locator. This occurs in

grid2deg in APRSISClient.cpp.
