Doc Text:
A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's dm-verity component. When the `dm_bufio_client_create()` function fails within `verity_fec_ctr()`, the subsequent call to `dm_bufio_client_destroy()` with an error pointer argument leads to a system crash. This vulnerability could allow a local attacker to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by triggering this specific failure condition.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-05-06 13:02:40 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

dm-verity: correctly handle dm_bufio_client_create() failure

If either of the calls to dm_bufio_client_create() in verity_fec_ctr()
fails, then dm_bufio_client_destroy() is later called with an ERR_PTR()
argument. That causes a crash. Fix this.
