A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's `mtk-smi` memory driver. This vulnerability arises from the driver's failure to release device references during certain probe failures or when the driver unbinds. This oversight can lead to resource exhaustion, potentially resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) for the affected system.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-05-06 13:03:05 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

memory: mtk-smi: fix device leaks on common probe

Make sure to drop the reference taken when looking up the SMI device
during common probe on late probe failure (e.g. probe deferral) and on
driver unbind.
