A flaw was found in OfflineIMAP. This vulnerability allows a remote attacker to perform a man-in-the-middle attack by exploiting the client's trust in the server's STARTTLS capability before authentication. This can lead to the attacker taking over the connection and extracting sensitive account credentials in cleartext, resulting in information disclosure.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-06-08 16:02:31 UTC
OfflineIMAP before 8.0.3 trusts the server with their STARTTLS capability prior to authentication, which allows STRIPTLS/man-in-the-middle attacks, taking over the connection and extracting account credentials in cleartext.
