same here (Intel i5-11400) back to thermald-2.5.9-3.fc44.x86_64.rpm fixed it I got same errors. I tried running it on the command line, says it goes into daemon mode. I tried: sudo thermald --loglevel=debug and it doesn't print out any info. I have looked in /var/log/messages, I haven't looked in journalctl. ----- journalctl -u thermald.service Aug 08 13:55:08 dell.internal systemd[1]: thermald.service: Scheduled restart job, restart counter is at 2. After the latest stable update for thermald it seems to fail and now I receive the following error messages during boot and in my system logs: THD engine init failed Non mobile platform, exiting.. Failed to start thermald.service - Thermal Daemon Service. systemctl status thermald.service × thermald.service - Thermal Daemon Service Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/thermald.service; enabled; preset: enabled) Drop-In: /usr/lib/systemd/system/service.d └─10-timeout-abort.conf Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Sat 2026-08-08 15:11:11 CEST; 23min ago Invocation: [REDACTED] Process: 1431 ExecStart=/usr/bin/thermald --systemd --dbus-enable --adaptive (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Main PID: 1431 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE) Mem peak: 1.4M CPU: 8ms aug 08 15:11:11 [REDACTED] systemd[1]: thermald.service: Scheduled restart job, restart counter is at 5. aug 08 15:11:11 [REDACTED] systemd[1]: thermald.service: Start request repeated too quickly. aug 08 15:11:11 [REDACTED] systemd[1]: thermald.service: Failed with result 'exit-code'. aug 08 15:11:11 [REDACTED] systemd[1]: Failed to start thermald.service - Thermal Daemon Service. Job for thermald.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status thermald.service" and "journalctl -xeu thermald.service" for details. thermald-2.5.12-1.fc44.x86_64 How reproducible: always! (downgrading to thermald-2.5.9-3.fc44 removes the errors and log spam) 1) install the latest update 2) reboot your system 3) check boot and system logs for errors Expected results: no failed status; and preferably no error message(s) during boot and/or system log spam.
