Description Yadnyawalk Tale 2026-08-17 10:50:48 UTC
Disclaimer: Community trackers are created by Red Hat Product Security team on a best effort basis. Package maintainers are required to ascertain if the flaw indeed affects their package, before starting the update process.

GitPython is a python library used to interact with Git repositories. Prior to version 3.1.47, _clone() validates multi_options as the original list, then executes shlex.split(" ".join(multi_options)). A string like "--branch main --config core.hooksPath=/x" passes validation (starts with --branch), but after split becomes ["--branch", "main", "--config", "core.hooksPath=/x"]. Git applies the config and executes attacker hooks during clone. This issue has been patched in version 3.1.47.

Previously fixed in https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2026-8e8273f18f.

This issue didn’t need to be filed because a simple version-number check could have confirmed that the fix had been shipped.
