A flaw was found in Jenkins. Attackers capable of submitting configuration updates can exploit a deserialization vulnerability by specifying values for transient fields. Although these fields are normally excluded from serialization, they are still processed during deserialization, which can lead to the overwriting of configuration objects. The ultimate impact depends on how these manipulated fields are subsequently used within the application.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-02 16:02:57 UTC
In Jenkins 2.579 and earlier, LTS 2.568.2 and earlier, transient fields cannot be excluded from deserialization, allowing attackers able to submit configuration updates to specify the values of transient fields that will be deserialized, the impact depending on how those fields are used.
