Description Jerry James 2026-09-03 20:49:24 UTC
Description of problem:
While investigating why old versions are piling up in /usr/lib/efi/grub2, I noticed that a number of directories under /usr/lib/efi are not owned by any RPM package:
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi
file /usr/lib/efi is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/grub2
file /usr/lib/efi/grub2 is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/grub2/1\:2.12-64.fc44
file /usr/lib/efi/grub2/1:2.12-64.fc44 is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/grub2/1\:2.12-64.fc44/EFI/
file /usr/lib/efi/grub2/1:2.12-64.fc44/EFI is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/shim
file /usr/lib/efi/shim is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/
file /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5 is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/EFI
file /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/EFI is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/EFI/BOOT
file /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/EFI/BOOT is not owned by any package
# rpm -qf /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/EFI/fedora
file /usr/lib/efi/shim/16.1-5/EFI/fedora is not owned by any package

Hi Jerry

I just recently noticed that while creating another package (grub-cc) so we need the corresponding cmds on %install and %files sections. We will get into that shortly.
