A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AFS (Andrew File System) module. This vulnerability occurs in the `afs_update_cell()` function when it attempts to update a volume list (`vllist`) that is empty. Under specific conditions, the old `vllist` is not properly released, leading to a memory leak. A local attacker could potentially exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service due to system resource exhaustion.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-04 17:14:00 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

afs: Fix vllist leak

Fix a leak of the new vllist in afs_update_cell() in the event that it is an
empty list (nr_servers == 0), in which case the old list isn't displaced
unless the old list is also empty.
