A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AFS (Andrew File System) implementation. This issue occurs when `afs_lookup_volume_rcu()` fails to acquire a volume, leading to a resource leak. A local attacker could potentially exploit this flaw to cause a denial of service due to resource exhaustion.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-04 17:15:55 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

afs: Fix leak of ungot volume

Fix afs_lookup_volume_rcu() so that it doesn't leak a dying volume if
afs_try_get_volume() fails.
