A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Andrew File System (AFS) component. The rxrpc Out-of-Band (OOB) message handler did not properly cancel its processing. This could lead to the handler continuing to process messages even when the network namespace is no longer active, or mishandling security challenges, potentially causing system instability or unexpected behavior.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-04 17:19:11 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

afs: Fix uncancelled rxrpc OOB message handler

Fix AFS to cancel its OOB message processing (typically to respond to
security challenges). Also move OOB message processing to afs_wq so that
it's also waited for and make the OOB handler just return if the net
namespace is no longer live.
