Description Laura Pardo 2026-09-10 18:24:23 UTC
Disclaimer: Community trackers are created by Red Hat Product Security team on a best effort basis. Package maintainers are required to ascertain if the flaw indeed affects their package, before starting the update process.

goose 1.37.0 executes arbitrary commands from recipe stdio extensions and retry.checks without security inspection. Attackers can distribute malicious recipes that execute shell commands as the user running goose, bypassing the recipe security scan which does not inspect extensions or retry configurations.

Based on careful review of the upstream discussion[1] around this CVE as well as doing some local testing, this is not applicable to goose in Fedora/RHEL. Because we do not ship the GUI version of goose, the issue of arbitrary code execution without notification to the user is not possible. The CLI version of goose we ship shows that an extension executed code.

goose run --recipe recipe.yaml --no-session
Loading recipe: Helpful Data Analyzer
Description: Analyzes your data (shared recipe)

Warning: Failed to start extension 'analyzer' (process quit before initialization: stderr = ), continuing without it
Hint: once the session starts, ask goose to help debug the 'analyzer' extension
