A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) component for ARM64 architectures. An omission in the `decode_range_tlbi()` helper, responsible for managing the Translation Lookaside Buffer (TLB), failed to correctly extend virtual addresses (VA) during certain invalidation operations. This could lead to an overflow of physical address (PA) bits, potentially causing incorrect memory handling. The consequence of this flaw could be system instability or, in certain scenarios, information disclosure or denial of service.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-16 11:27:17 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

KVM: arm64: Sign-extend VA for range-based TLBI invalidation

When the decode_range_tlbi() helper was moved to be used for S1 TLBIs,
the required sign extension was omitted. Add it.

As a result, special care must be taken to not overflow PA bits when
this is used for S2 invalidation.
