A flaw was found in the f2fs filesystem within the Linux kernel. When a node block becomes corrupted due to a checksum mismatch or inconsistent footer information, the system fails to properly clear a 'dirty flag' on the associated folio (a memory page). This can lead to inconsistent data being written to storage, potentially resulting in data corruption or integrity issues. This vulnerability requires local filesystem corruption to be triggered.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-16 11:58:44 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

f2fs: fix to clear dirty flag on folio in error path

If node block is corrupted due to chksum mismatch or inconsistent
footer info, it needs to drop clear flag of node folio, in order
to persist inconsistent node data to storage.
