A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's RDMA/ipoib module. A race condition during module teardown allows the `ib_ipoib` module to be unloaded while its code is still executing. This can occur when IPoIB reclamation completions are signaled from within an RCU (Read-Copy-Update) callback, or during client registration failures. This vulnerability could lead to a system crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-17 16:41:05 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

RDMA/ipoib: Drain RCU callbacks during module teardown

IPoIB reclamation completions can be signaled from inside an RCU callback.
Teardown can wake before the callback returns and unload ib_ipoib while its
code is still executing.

Client registration failure can also remove already-added devices and queue
callbacks. Wait after client and workqueue teardown.
