A flaw was found in the `ublk` component of the Linux kernel. A local attacker, by providing an invalid address range from a userspace `ublk` server, could cause the `import_ubuf()` function to fail. This failure, if not properly handled, leads to an uninitialized data structure being used in subsequent operations, potentially resulting in a system crash and a denial of service.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-17 16:43:31 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

ublk: check import_ubuf() return value

import_ubuf() can fail if the address range (provided by the userspace
ublk server) is outside the allowed user address space. Return that 0
bytes were copied if import_ubuf() fails rather than passing an
uninitialized struct iov_iter to ublk_copy_user_pages().
