A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's ath6kl Wi-Fi driver. Insufficient length checks in several Wireless Management Interface (WMI) event handlers, specifically `ath6kl_wmi_scan_complete_rx()`, `ath6kl_wmi_addba_req_event_rx()`, and `ath6kl_wmi_delba_req_event_rx()`, allow the system to read beyond the allocated buffer. This buffer overread could lead to information disclosure or potentially a denial of service (DoS) by crashing the system.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-17 18:16:01 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

wifi: ath6kl: avoid buffer overreads in WMI event handlers

The following WMI event handlers currently read from the event buffer
without first verifying that the message was large enough to hold the
expected event:
ath6kl_wmi_scan_complete_rx()
ath6kl_wmi_addba_req_event_rx()
ath6kl_wmi_delba_req_event_rx()

Add length checks to prevent overread.
