A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's RISC-V BPF JIT compiler. When Control-Flow Integrity (CFI) with Clang is enabled, an error in calculating the tail call jump offset can lead to kernel stack corruption. This issue causes the system to improperly adjust the stack pointer, which can result in system instability, crashes, or potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-17 18:38:33 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

riscv, bpf: Fix kernel stack corruption in tailcall with CFI

When CONFIG_CFI_CLANG is enabled, prog->bpf_func already skips the kcfi
instruction during setup. Including it again in the tailcall jump offset
causes it to jump over an extra 4 bytes, skipping the stack pointer
adjustment, which will result in kernel stack corruption.
