A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's crypto: qat module. The `qat_alg_xts_reverse_key()` function expands sensitive Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) key material on the stack. This key material is not properly cleared and can remain in the stack frame, potentially allowing a local attacker to access it. This could lead to the disclosure of cryptographic keys.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-17 19:03:05 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

crypto: qat - clear AES key schedule from stack

qat_alg_xts_reverse_key() expands the forward XTS AES key on the stack.
That schedule contains key material and can remain in the stack frame.

Clear the temporary crypto_aes_ctx with memzero_explicit() after the copy.
