Description Geraldo Simião 2026-09-18 20:11:24 UTC
The string "transient, will use DHCP" in src/components/review/Hostname.jsx is not wrapped in the gettext function and therefore does not appear in the Weblate translation project.

Location:

https://github.com/rhinstaller/anaconda-webui/blob/ce3c92a7b8afa635e3cf93cbed830dd119f550e1/src/components/review/Hostname.jsx#L154

Current code:

<div className="pf-v6-u-color-400">transient, will use DHCP</div>

Expected behavior:

The string should be marked for translation using the existing gettext mechanism, for example:

<div className="pf-v6-u-color-400">
    {_("transient, will use DHCP")}
</div>

This would allow the string to be extracted and made available for translation in Weblate.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start live-iso
2.Opens anaconda-webui, choose a system language, not english, and runs througt the setup process
3.check the final installer window, where we confirm all the settings
Actual Results:
Hostname -> shows only the original english text "transient, will use DHCP" even if one chosed a 100% translated language (as show in weblate, for ex: https://translate.fedoraproject.org/projects/anaconda-webui/anaconda-webui/pt_BR/ )

Expected Results:
A translatable string, for the internationalization people to work with

Additional Information:
Additional information:

The string is displayed when no custom hostname is configured. It informs the user that the hostname is transient and will be assigned using DHCP.

Version tested: anaconda-webui-84-1.fc45.noarch
Fedora 45 KDE Beta 1.3 iso

Comment 2 Fedora Blocker Bugs Application 2026-09-22 02:50:25 UTC
Proposed as a Blocker and Freeze Exception for 45-final by Fedora user geraldosimiao using the blocker tracking app because:

 Untranslatable string in HostnameRow: "transient, will use DHCP" prevents translation teams from properly translating it; this affects all languages in which Fedora is distributed. Criterion affected: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_45_Final_Release_Criteria#Installer_translations

Comment 3 Luna Jernberg 2026-09-22 14:23:43 UTC
Could translate this today into swedish atleast so guess this is fixed

Comment 4 Geraldo Simião 2026-09-23 03:40:56 UTC
yeah, today I opened weblate again and the string is now present for translation, wich I already did. very nice.
Whe only need is a new anaconda-webui build to use it into the deliverables.
