A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's AMD GPU (amdgpu) driver. Memory queue and firmware buffer objects used by user queues were not pinned in memory, allowing them to be evicted during memory pressure. A local user could exploit this issue to cause the graphics hardware to access invalid memory addresses, resulting in page faults and a Denial of Service (DoS) via a system hang.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-24 16:36:00 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

drm/amdgpu/userq: pin mqd and fw object bo to avoid eviction

mqd and fw objects are queue core objects which should remain
valid and never be unmapped and evicted for user queues to work
properly.

During eviction if these buffers are evicted the hw continue to
use the invalid addresses and caused page faults and system hung.
