A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Optimized MPEG File System (OMFS) driver. The driver does not properly handle failures when configuring block sizes during file system mounting. A local attacker with the ability to mount a crafted file system image could exploit this flaw to trigger a kernel crash, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-24 16:53:02 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

omfs: handle set_blocksize failures

omfs uses buffer_heads, which don't handle block size > PAGE_SIZE well.
Without this, mounting we will hit the

        BUG_ON(offset >= folio_size(folio));

in folio_set_bh on the first __bread_gfp call.
