A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's DM1105 media driver. A local user could cause a Denial of Service (DoS) through a kernel crash if Direct Memory Access (DMA) memory allocation fails during device initialization. Because the driver ignores the allocation return value, it proceeds to use a null pointer for subsequent DMA transfers, resulting in invalid memory access and system failure.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-24 16:59:09 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

media: dm1105: fix missing error check for dma_alloc_coherent

The return value of dm1105_dma_map(), which handles DMA memory allocation,
is ignored in dm1105_hw_init(). If dma_alloc_coherent() fails, the driver
will proceed using a NULL pointer for DMA transfers, leading to a kernel
oops or invalid hardware access.

Fix this by checking the return value and propagating -ENOMEM on failure.
