A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Journaled File System (JFS). An unhandled error when initializing the file system block size during mount operations allows a local user with mount privileges to cause a Denial of Service (DoS). By attempting to mount an incompatible or crafted storage volume, an attacker can trigger a kernel assertion failure, resulting in an immediate system crash.

Description OSIDB Bzimport 2026-09-24 17:00:03 UTC
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:

jfs: handle set_blocksize failures

jfs uses buffer_heads, which don't handle block size > PAGE_SIZE well.
Without this, mounting we will hit the

        BUG_ON(offset >= folio_size(folio));

in folio_set_bh on the first __bread_gfp call.
